The Saints are at the Precipice of holiness and were slowly formed to be thus in their life on Earth. The rod of discipline was situations, incidences and suffering. They later attained glory in heaven.

The Prioress’ of many of these holy people were using a necessary severity on them through browbeating and terse conversations.
This was true in the life of St Therese of Lisieux. And her Mother Superior confessed this to the Saint’s deathbed. Nevertheless St Therese was aware of it because these holy people are bred thus.
The whole list of around ten thousand of these mystics were set apart[Jer 1:5]. And their lives were nothing less ordinary; they stood out.
