Many apparitions and Saints’ lives have been looked with suspicion since the birth of the Church itself. But the suspicion didn’t last long and these were approved by the Church. But all of this was a part of God’s plan to work in his wisdom for the good of the faithful [Romans 8:28]
To begin with: St Teresa of Avila was looked with suspicion regarding the many visions she received; St Pio of Pietrelcina was constantly reviewed regarding his stigmata with many competent doctors all his life, but he never stopped yielding to the authorities in the Church even amid this; St Alphonsa’s sacrificial sufferings and visions too were not believed, but were accepted later.
Everyone is called to be faithful and obedient. This unwavering faith in the Spiritual Fathers and the Church is what’s being asked of us. What emerges is a polished and beautiful soul. He is the Potter and we are the clay [Romans 9:21].
