Wisdom of Yore

Each and every person is unique. But, together we are one(Romans 12:4,5). We are fearfully and wonderfully made(Psalm 139:14) and called to different vocations or purposes in Christ. He calls us to these vocations in a unique way.

St Teresa of Kolkata was called by Jesus to found the Missionaries of Charity in a special manner. She termed it ‘a call within a call’. This was a more physical and intimate way to show love to the slum dwellers deep in poverty, disease, hunger and rags in Kolkata’s Motijhil. She began to feel a thirst for love and souls from Jesus and she took it as an inspiration or call. This once poverty-stricken place, now is a bustling and beautiful town.

Jesus calls when He needs us and we should obey His calling. He can make us great. As St Catherine of Siena said, “Be what God called you to be and you will set the world on fire”.
