I am a voracious reader. The moment I get curious about something, I spend reading a lot and going in-depth about it. And this exercise includes poring over into books about the same topic.

Curiosity is very essential for the pursuit of knowledge, vocabulary, deep insights, awareness, news about the world and the status quo of surroundings around you. Otherwise, life becomes mundane and monotonous.
This being said, hobbies are essential too. But some people have vague and meaningless hobbies that are counterproductive. They also eat a lot into their time.
These include hobbies like watching daily soaps, surfing the internet for entertainment regarding tinsel town, reading about divas, following macho celebrities. It is suffice to say that everything written about these people in tabloids are blatant lies and concocted verbose canards. Many times these celebrities themselves have revealed this.
Hobbies like reading books are great for a productive life. I have read close to 130 books and counting. One of my friends has sifted through over 600 books. And his knowledge is immense. But I have intellectual abilities that are rare even though the books read are less.
I constantly update my book inventory and have proudly displayed it on my bookshelf. There seems to be a connect for an individual with their books. And no money spent on them is a waste.
Try and be friends with books. They never desert or leave you in the lurch. Books are best friends.
