God of Surprises?

Life with Jesus is not full of surprises as some people make it to be. He reveals everything to his chosen ones[Amos 3:7]. They are not kept in the dark. He calls them his friends[John 15:15].

Death commensurates with life

I know what is going to happen in my life ahead of time. Even death is not out of the sight of God. He shares the manner and time of death of a person if he is in close communion with God.

The Saints like St Edith Stein knew the manner and time of her death in detail decades before it happened; It was exact. God does not bring stark surprises to his chosen ones.

But was St Edith Stein scared of the manner in which she would die given that it would be in a gas chamber during the holocaust? She wasn’t. Precious blood of Jesus is the courage of martyrs.
