The Shepherds
St Peter was the first Pope and the shepherd of the flock of faithful. He, along with his fellow apostles enjoyed special privileges. His shadow which fell on people too worked many miracles(Acts 5:15). He and other apostles were special from other disciples(Acts 2:43).
The Clergy too have an authority over our souls. They are the guardians of it. St Kuriakose Chavara, being a priest, saved many of the faithful from following heretical teachings and losing their salvation ultimately. He was wise in dealing with and endorsing people to follow a person named Roccos, who impersonated an anointed Bishop from the Holy See.
God has assigned a role and authority to everyone. He works through people and this authority. We are called to be obedient.
