Wisdom of Yore

Jesus managed to stay away from public go; he did not want people to know his whereabouts or attract a crowd. Most of the time he moved to places unnoticed (Mark 7:24). But still people were drawn towards him and found him where he was (Mark 6:54,55).

People also wanted to make him their King (John 6:15) and all even expected him to reign over them conquering kingdoms as Messiah (Matthew 2:1-4).

But this was not his calling and he would withdraw from such talks or discourage such behaviour. Jesus was very wise with such people and never deviated from the course for life set by his Father (John 4:34).

He expects the same from us: to remain true to our calling; be focused and to not look after vainglory or useless things.
